This page is all about hamsters. I, (Hamster) have two hamsters. One named Snowball and the other named Fresca. I’m trying to get them to mate but that is a whole new story that will be in a post sometime soon so keep your eyes out! Banana used to have two hamsters named Fidget and Spazz but they both died a while back Pillier has a hamster named Netty. She has had four other hamsters before that. So just keep reading this page to find some hints on how to spoil your hamster/rodent!

Pillier has a new hamster named Netty. He’s adorable, and he’s a dwarf. Winter white hamster.

Fresca is still not pregnant but I wish she was.

SwimmerFreak might be getting a hamster or a bunny. HOPE IT’S A HAMSTER!

A Simple Treat

Ingredients:

Carrots
Celery
Nuts
Seeds

How to make it:

Wash all the ingredients. Then mash all of them together. Then put it in a container and store it in the fridge for about 24 hours. When giving this to your hamster, always put it back in the fridge because the fruits could go bad.

Hamster Breeding

Breeding takes a lot of time and effort. You have to really want a hamster to do it.

How to tell if your hamster is pregnant:

She gets fat quickly in two days, usually around the rear, she eats more and drinks more, hoards food, and makes a big nest. The easiest way to tell is if she gets fat in just a couple of days.

When you find out she’s pregnant feed her protein like cheese, peanut butter, and oats. Don’t overfeed though.

Take the father out as soon as the mother starts to look fat. Some fathers do help raise the babies and take care of mom, but not all. Also, they might re-mate and the female won’t have time to rest.

As soon as your mom hamster starts to look fat, you can expect babies in approximately 2-7 days, depending on how your hamster handles her pregnancy. One of my females gets fat and 2 days later has babies; the other gets fat and has hers a week later. It just depends on the hamster.

When she starts to deliver, the mom will hunch over and start moving around a lot. The babies might be scattered around the cage but she will gather them up in the end. The mother can care for herself and her litter.

Leave the mother and babies alone in a quiet room. Only get in her cage to give her extra food and water. Don’t touch the babies for two weeks, or she might eat them. After two weeks separate the half the male babies from half the female babies. Have a total of four of them. Clean the new cages/boxes out a couple days before giving birth so you can have them for the babies ready beforehand.
